I have a similar set up. I use a tsunami air wave with a Daiwa BG5000 on it. Works perfect for surf fishing the North Florida coast. Catches everything.

Love getting the kids involved! My kid loves sea robins. Haha!

I was 😮 when she got close to that blue! I caught a gator last Saturday and it was nerve wracking trying to get my lure lure back it mostly swallowed.

I've been scouring Google Earth and the net in general for NYC reservoir shore fishing spots. Found a few by driving around and watching videos. So far all I caught is a bluegill but I saw some big splashes which I presume were brown trout although they could be also be carp. There were a lot of saw bellies in that cove. Did more scouting than fishing. I was driving through Boyds Corner and I noticed this cool older but well maintained home on a hillside. It stood out because it was red with a nice porch and stone foundation, just below that reservoir across from a section of the East Branch Croton river. Oddly when I was looking around on the net when I got home that very house was for sale. Exterior and windows redone, circa 1930. Porch in back, .9 acre. The great room was unfinished inside, but it had huge windows, high ceiling and big stone fireplace. 2 beds, one bath, 2 car garage. Electricity and propane for gas. Septic. Abuts state land behind it for acres. $390k. Bear Mt. State park has a zoo which the little one might like and in Hessian Lake there are largemouth and stocked trout with holdovers which both of you might like. The shoreline has great access and the water goes to 10 feet quick right off shore. 7 lakes drive in Harriman has lakes everywhere.

I like fishing both the SP and Mag Darter with either a tail flag or a single hook both with a belly treble. Like the action on both with a longer tail flag as well.
